Vietnam is widely admired for its deep respect for education. Here, school is more than just a routine โ it’s a vital path to success and a source of pride for countless families. This culture of academic dedication is inspiring, but it can also be a heavy burden for students.
Thatโs why Ho Chi Minh City has recently introduced an important new measure: a ban on private tutoring after 8 PM, in order to protect studentsโ mental and physical health and help them find a better balance between school and family life.
According to Viรชt Nam News, the city currently counts around 1,300 licensed tutoring centers and over 3,300 teachers involved in after-school lessons. While this highlights the commitment to education, it also reveals the tremendous pressure placed on students and parents โ many of whom fear their children might fall behind without extra lessons.

ToggleAt LโAtelier An Phu, learning comes with balance and kindness
At LโAtelier An Phu, our language center located in Thao Dien, we believe in a more compassionate and sustainable approach to learning. Thatโs why, since the very beginning, we have chosen not to schedule lessons after 8 PM, out of respect for our students’ energy, rest, and family time.
Of course, we understand that every learner is unique. Teenagers, university students, and working adults may have limited availability โ and we are always open to special arrangements, provided that we can maintain a healthy rhythm for everyone involved.
A strong educational culture that deserves gentle evolution
Vietnamโs education system is one of the most admirable in Asia. But in an age where mental health is more important than ever, we believe that education should be humane, flexible, and centered on student well-being.
At LโAtelier An Phu, we aim to make every class a moment of joy, discovery, and self-confidence โ not a source of stress or exhaustion. We applaud the cityโs initiative and look forward to a future where learning is both ambitious and kind.
